Pippa Keene – High School English
Ms. Keene graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in English Literature and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. She has taught in both public and private schools and recently finished a two-year teaching contract in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. An avid bike packer, she has toured in over 10 countries, including a ride across the American Continent from Anacortes, Washington to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. To date Ms. Keene has visited 46 countries on 6 continents including Croatia, New Zealand, Ireland, Colombia, Poland, Turkey, Oman, and Morocco.

Pam Smith – High School Literacy Coach
Pam launched her interior design business, Transitional Designs, in the Boston area in the midst of a recession in early 1990s. After several years of hard work and determination, and working with a great business partner,Transitional Designs was one of the most highly regarded design firms in New England. Education has always been an important part of Pam’s life, including funding an annual scholarship high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing careers in design. Pam also opened her business to college interns and assisted them in completing their residential design blocks of learning. Besides her design firm, Pam was a founder and counselor in Quest, a program for at-risk teens in the Chicago area. After 25 years in the design trade, Pam retired and became a Literacy Coach for first and second graders at Early Light Academy. The opportunity to help high school students attain their goals through responsibility and determination brought Pam to AISU.
She and her husband, Mark, have three adult children and two wonderful grandchildren. In her spare time, Pam loves to walk and hike, read, enjoy music and theatre, and most importantly, summers in Georgia with the grandchildren.

Katlin Allison – Teacher’s Assistant: High School English Language Arts
Kaitlin moved to the Beehive State in May 2015 with her husband (her high school sweetheart!), two dogs (Bunny and Waffles), and cat (Kat Lassie). Born and raised in Southern California, Katlin earned her Master of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Gender and Sexuality studies at California State University San Bernardino. While at USC, she also completed a teacher prep program; upon completion, Katlin was granted a preliminary license to teach secondary English Language Arts in California and is currently in the process of receiving a teaching license here is Utah. Katlin is the fourth generation direct family line member on her father’s side to become an educator, going back to her great-grandfather, who managed all grade levels in a one room schoolhouse in a rural South Dakota. Her ultimate professional goal is to become a College and Career Specialist.
In Katlin’s spare time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction, and watching crime dramas. She also enjoys making gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and baking sweets from scratch.
